This is the second game of a 3-game series between the two teams, with the Braves taking the opener 1-0 in eleven innings. Jeff Burroughs’ one-out double scored Darrel Chaney from first with the game-winning run…

Commemorative baseballs will be given to all fans in attendance, and there will be a fireworks presentation following the game…

There have been a total of 35 SP78 games played at ESC5 before tonight: 18 that Todd has played alone, 14 that Steve P. has participated in, one where Scott B. was the opponent, and two where the managing team of Scott B. and Steve P. were involved. Steve’s current record at ESC5 stands at 9-7…

The first SP78 game played at ESC5 occurred June 7, 1988, between the Expos and Astros; the first game played where Steve P. piloted the opposing team took place four days later, on June 11, 1988 between the Red Sox and Orioles, a game which remains the only 9-inning SP78 contest that took over two hours to complete…

Of the 13 games scheduled for May 14, 1978, all but one were played at ESC5…

The first SP78 game to be recorded on videotape took place at ESC5, on July 7, 1992…

Many memorable games have taken place at ESC5 (including the 20th Anniversary Game and the 17-inning Mets-Astros debacle of 1989), but the most well-remembered is the ‘Sixto Lezcano Game’ of 1991, a May 19th contest between the Angels and Brewers at County Stadium in Milwaukee. Due to an odd chain of events, fans at the game chose to stand in reverence to Sixto Lezcano whenever he came to bat, a tradition that continues at Brewers games to this day…
