Astros outfielder Cesar Cedeno was activated from the 30-day disabled list, and returned to action one day after Houston lost two starting outfielders to injuries: Jose Cruz will be out for at least a week, while Denny Walling was placed on the 21-day disabled list…

Pitcher Jim Clancy of the Blue Jays, with a 2-0 loss to the Brewers on June 9th, became the season’s first 10-game loser…

The Cubs have lost third baseman Steve Ontiveros to injuries for the second time this season, placing him on the 30-day disabled list after a collision with teammate Dennis Lamp knocked him senseless June 7th at Wrigley Field. Ontiveros, who was batting .328 after his first visit to the DL, will more than likely recover in time for the All-Star Game…

Rangers third baseman Toby Harrah became the second player this season to steal home, doing so June 9th off Wilbur Wood in the fourth inning of the Texas-Chicago game at Arlington Stadium…

Tony Perez of the Expos reached the 2,000 career hit plateau June 8th at Olympic Stadium…

Local authorities were called to Municipal Stadium June 7th to once again subdue and remove the evil twin of Dan Spillner, who was found warming up, in uniform, in the Indians bullpen between games of a doubleheader. The real Dan Spillner was unavailable for comment…

Willie McCovey is still four home runs away from the 500th of his career…

The first week of June saw an abundance of triples and hit batters, most notably in Philadelphia on June 2nd, where the Dodgers hit three triples in the 7th inning, and in Kansas City on June 4th, where Wilbur Wood hit three Royals in 3 2/3 innings…

In the first game of the St Louis-Houston doubleheader at the Astrodome on June 3rd, the first three Cardinals batters in the first inning all singled, and were each thrown out trying to steal by catcher Luis Pujols…

Ron Guidry of the Yankees won his 11th game of the season with a thrilling 10-inning, 2-1 victory over the Mariners at the Kingdome on June 7th…

Relief pitcher Dave Heaverlo lost both games of a twinbill for the A’s at Oakland June 8th against the Angels…

Rod Carew got back on track with a 5-for-5 night against the Indians June 9th in Cleveland, improving his season average to .336…

Milwaukee catcher Charlie Moore has hit in 18 straight games…
