Brewers Update

The Brewers (27-20) are currently in second place in the AL East, 3½ games behind the division-leading Yankees…OF Sixto Lezcano leads the team in HR’s with 10…Milwaukee has won its last 13 of 16 games…SS Robin Yount, out of action since May 24th with a muscle pull, might return to the Brewers lineup this week…Mike Caldwell and Rangers ace Fergie Jenkins lead the majors in shutouts pitched with 4…OF Ben Oglivie will try to extend his hitting streak today to 14 games, second best on the club this season. Robin Yount’s streak stalled at 16 when he was injured…Milwaukee will wrap up the series with Cleveland tomorrow with an afternoon doubleheader, and after a day off will host Detroit for a quick 2-game set…

Indians Update

Cleveland’s record of 20-30 is fourth worst in the AL, placing them 11½ games behind first-place New York in the AL East…Rick Waits’ ten wins puts him at the top of the heap in the SP78 win department, along with Yankee Ron Guidry…Pitcher Dennis Kinney, called up from AAA Portland in the wake of the Dan Spillner fiasco, has yet to make an appearance…3B Buddy Bell won his second Diamond Glove in as many tries this week…Bernie Carbo finished the month of May with a .363 average, third best in the AL…The Indians have won 4 of their last 6…Cleveland’s team batting average of .295 ranks them second behind Minnesota in the American League…After tomorrow’s doubleheader, the Tribe returns to Municipal Stadium to host the White Sox, Blue Jays, and Twins…
