The first incarnation of TWISP Notes was a newsletter of Statis Pro 1978 Replay scores, highlights, and game-related information and statistics, which I created as a means of supplying SP78 updates to my friend Steve P—who was an avid player of not only my season, but one of his own—after I’d moved from San Diego to San Bernardino in 1988; this was before the dawn of e-mail, so all editions had to be sent to him via the postal service. A few months later I moved to Arizona, and my brother Scott became a recipient of TWISP Notes as well.
The ‘TWISP’ in TWISP Notes was an acronym for ‘This Week in Statis Pro’, and was derived from the TWIB Notes segments seen on the syndicated baseball program This Week in Baseball. At first, the one- to two-page issues were typed once a week, but this output didn’t last long, and by the end of its run they were being sent out just once or twice per year. I created one last issue for my 25th Anniversary game in 2005 and then called it quits, after 17 years and 52 issues released.
